The idea for Red Hot Rhythm originated in 2006 and aimed to provide a new and original tap dance concept for the Queensland market in recognition of the lack of local, high quality tap dance performance and tuition currently on offer. An added objective was to give Queensland based performers a home in Brisbane, and encourage them to assist in the development of the local arts scene, rather than taking their skills interstate.
As a result of this vision Red Hot Rhythm was formed in early 2007 by Director Bill Simpson, and since then, the company has grown from a one-man show to the full performance troupe and tap dance school it is today. With the current troupe of tap dancers, Irish dancers, a wide range of musicians, and Red Hot Rhythm's tap dance school based in Brisbane, Red Hot Rhythm has become the leading force in the Queensland tap-dance industry:

Apart from a range of corporate entertainment credits in Australia and overseas, some of the main highlights of the Red Hot Rhythm journey include a guest appearance at the Melbourne International Tap Festival, 2008, in which the troupe performed alongside some of the world's greatest living tap dancers, and also making it to the grand finals of the nationally screened television show, Australia's Got Talent. The two tap dancers and two Irish dancers came in 5th overall, and also the number 1 dance and group act of the show.
The company aims to push the boundaries of tap dance in Australia through experimentation with the art form in new and unique ways, to ensure we are constantly creating original and innovative performance experiences. However we also aspire to recognise the influence of renowned performers from the golden age of tap dance, with the inclusion of more traditional styles. In blending these methods we strive to recapture the magic of tap-dance to provide an innovative and original performance experience for dancers and audiences alike.
